What do you see when you open a packet of Poppins? An array of multi-coloured coin -sized sweets, each with a distinctive flavour which is exactly the long and short of V.K. Prakash’s next venture titled Poppins.
The shoot of this film, based on a drama by Jayaprakash Kuloor, has already started in Bengalaru and has an ensemble cast of four couples; Indrajith-Padmapriya, Meghna Raj- Jayasurya, Kunchacko Boban- Nithya Menen and Anoop Menon with Ann Augustine.
The cast by itself is a novelty and the story more so! V.K. Prakash explains the storyline, “The film traces the journey of a filmmaker played by Shankar Ramakrishnan who is a government employee, but resigns his job so that he can pursue his dream of directing a film.”
The interesting feature of Poppins is that each of the four couples have a different look. Kunchacko Boban and Nithya Menen will sport a retro look, contemporary look, a period one besides yet another.
All this will fall in place in two schedules which will be shot at a fast pace with Thiruvananthapuram being the second schedule location. V.K. Prakash adds, “This is actually five films, within one film, with even a children’s segment woven in.
The struggles and pain of a filmmaker to complete a film and also the emotions in a man-woman relationship are depicted, but basically this is a fun film.”
A sneak look at the retro look of Kunchacko Boban will surely leave one stunned. So drastic is the makeover! While Kunchacko’s is the first segment to be shot, excitement about the other couples’ look is only building!
