Pre-release campaign of a movie these days would invariably mean a strong social-media presence. But actor Dileep is taking a step forward by letting social networking site Facebook help him decide whether he should take the lead role in the Malayalam remake of Bollywood hit Vicky Donor.
“I have already bought the rights for the remake, but I have still not decided whether I should act in it. I am trying to get the response from people who follow my movies and know what they have to say about it and then decide. I am experimenting,” said the actor at the meet-the-press organized by Press Club on Wednesday. The movie, based on the concept of sperm donation and infertility, is touchy, said Dileep, “But not an altogether taboo subject. The Kerala audience today is ready for films with themes which would have been considered forbidden a few years ago. Aashiq Abu’s 22 Female Kottayam broke the stereotype and had the lead character saying she is not a virgin. Such things are not unthinkable now. So there is nothing holding me back other than planning out some technical details,” said the actor. The actor added that he was happy to be adjudged as the best actor in this year’s awards. And when the mimicry artist-turned-actor was asked about allegations regarding this year’s awards, he did what he is best at – laugh.
