Malayalam cinema sweeps the 55th National Film Awards

Malayalam cinema made an impressive sweep at the 55th National Film Award.

Renowned Malayalam film director Adoor Gopalakrishnan got the best director award for Naalu Pennungal.

Ouseppachan is the Best Music director for Ore Kadal, Pattanam Rasheed got the award for best make-up for Pardesi and B Ajit for Editing for Naalu Pennungal.

The Best Regional Film is Shyamaprasad’s Ore Kadal.

Kanchivaram, Priyadarshan’s heart rendering tale of a man caught between his ideology and personal ambitions has won the Best Feature Film award at the 55th National Film Awards 2007.

The film documents the lives and times of the weavers of Kanchivaram just after Independence, and how the communist movement started.

Prakash Raj, who played Vengadam in Kanchivaram, has been adjudged best actor for his intense performance.
