The committee set up to resolve the problems associated with the film releases in Mollywood has asked the Theatres’ Association to identify Cinema Houses in B centers that should be included in the wide-screen release lists. The set of parameters for the classification of theatres according to the facilities offered will also be evolved before November 17, when the committee will have the next sitting with all the associations involved.
According to the general agreement over the need of a wide-screen release strategy, various organizations of exhibitors and distributors are proposing different number of theatres that can be offered for a big release.
Anyhow, everyone associated has now agreed to the need for such an initiative as films like ”Annan Thampi” and the latest “Kurukshetra ” which opted for a wide screen release made profits even in a run of three weeks. Even the films like ‘Paruthu’ and ‘Mayabazaar’ could decrease the chances for losses. All these films were released in more than 70 centers, against the 48 centers that Mollywood films used to release in.
